二つ以上の出来事が偶然同時に、または関連して起こる、予想外の状況のことです。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「偶然の一致だね」などの形でよく使われます。「純粋な偶然の一致」としても表現されます。「偶然（coincidence）」はたまたまの出来事であり、「一致する（coincide）」とは区別してください。
