ある地域で長期間にわたって続く、特徴的な天気の傾向です。場所や状況の雰囲気・ムードを示す場合にも使われます。

たいてい長期間の天候を指し、『weather』（天気）のような短期的な現象とは区別されます。比喩的に『政治的気候』『経済的気候』のようにも使われます。『気候変動』『熱帯気候』などの表現に多いです。
