Definition
A argila é um material natural da terra, macio e moldável, que endurece quando seca ou vai ao forno. É muito usada para fazer cerâmica, tijolos e peças de arte, e também pode referir-se a um tipo de solo.

Normalmente é incontável: 'some clay', não 'a clay', exceto quando se fala de um tipo ('a red clay'). Combinações comuns: 'clay pot', 'modeling clay', 'clay soil' e 'clay court' no ténis. Não confundas com 'mud' nem com terra em geral.
