클램프나 비슷한 것으로 무언가를 단단히 붙잡거나 고정한 상태를 말합니다. 주로 물건을 견고하게 고정할 때 사용합니다.

주로 기술, 수리, 작업장에서 사용되며 'clamped shut', 'clamped together'와 같은 표현에 자주 등장합니다. 사람에게는 거의 쓰이지 않지만, 은유적으로는 예외적으로 사용될 수 있습니다('his jaw was clamped shut' 등).
