文章や研究、法律の場面で、証拠や例として挙げられたという意味です。「cite」の過去形です。

主に論文や法律、公的な文脈で使用され、「cited sources」「cited as evidence」などの表現が多い。日常会話ではあまり使われません。「site」や「sight」と混同しないでください。
