何かの周りを円を描いて回る動き。または、話題の核心に触れずに何度も話すことも指す。

実際の動きにも比喩的な使い方にも使われる。'話をぐるぐる回す' は話をはっきりさせない時に使う。速い動きや直線的な場面には使わない。

The plane was circling the airport, waiting to land.
