Definition

赤ちゃんに名前をつけ、教会へ迎え入れるためのキリスト教の宗教儀式です。船など新しいものの命名式も指すことがあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に赤ちゃんや子供へのキリスト教の儀式に使われます。比喩的に何かを初めて使用・命名する場面（例：船の命名式）でも使われます。宗教色のない一般の名付けには使いません。
