包丁などの鋭い道具で力を入れて何かを小さく切ること。野菜や木材などを繰り返し切るときに使います。

『chop vegetables』や『chop wood』などで使い、「cut」よりも力強い、繰り返しの動きを表します。料理や薪割りによく使われます。
