「噛む」は、食べ物などを飲み込む前に歯で細かくする動作を指します。

人や動物など三人称単数に使われます。「chews gum」、「chews on a bone」などでよく使われ、食べ物やアイテムを細かくする意味。『bite』よりも穏やかなイメージです。
