選手権大会は、スポーツや他の活動で誰が一番かを決めるために行われる大会です。通常、複数のチームや個人が参加します。

この言葉は常に複数形として使います。スポーツや学問など様々な分野の大会で使われます。「win the championships」や「qualify for the championships」など。'champion'（優勝者）と混同しないようにしましょう。
