Definition

挑戦者とは、現チャンピオンやリーダーに対して勝利を目指し、対戦や競争に挑む人やチームのことです。主にスポーツや選挙などの競争の場面で使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

スポーツや選挙などの「現チャンピオン」や「リーダー」に挑む立場に使います。通常は個人や団体の競争に関して使われます。非競争的な状況ではあまり使いません。
