黒板に書くときなどに使われる、柔らかい白色や色つきの棒状のもの。または主に炭酸カルシウムからできた白い岩石。

主に学校の黒板に使う。『チョーク画』はチョークで描いた絵のこと。現代のホワイトボードマーカーには使わない。「chalk and cheese」は全く違う物同士を表現する英語表現。
