大聖堂とは、都市や地域の中心となる大きくて重要なキリスト教の教会で、多くは司教の拠点です。

主にキリスト教の大きな教会に使います。「教会」や「チャペル」とは区別され、特に歴史的・建築的価値が高い場合に使われます。「ゴシック大聖堂」などの表現があります。
