Um caixa é a pessoa responsável por receber e entregar dinheiro em lojas, bancos ou outros estabelecimentos, geralmente operando o caixa registradora.

'Caixa' é usado para funcionários que recebem pagamentos em estabelecimentos ou bancos. No banco pode ser chamado de 'atendente do caixa'. A palavra serve para ambos os gêneros.
