カーペット敷きは、床全体をカーペットで覆うことやカーペット用の素材を指します。 部屋全体をカーペットにする場合によく使われます。

'カーペット敷き'は数えられない名詞として使います。部分的な敷物やラグには使いません。素材と敷設両方に使われます。『壁から壁までのカーペット敷き』などの表現があります。
