食堂は学校や会社などの施設内で食事ができる場所です。また、水筒という意味もあり、特にアウトドアや軍隊で水を持ち運ぶ容器を指します。

イギリス英語では「canteen」は職場や学校の「食堂」を指し、アメリカ英語では「cafeteria」と言うことが多いです。「水筒」という意味もあり、文脈でどちらか判断できます。
