Definition

仕事や役職、賞、選挙などのために考慮されている人、または応募している人を指します。特定の治療や役割に適している人にも使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「job candidate」や「presidential candidate」のように仕事や選挙でよく使われます。「〜の候補者」という形が一般的です。日常的な「応募者」よりも堅い表現です。
