ふくらみは、表面から丸く突き出た部分や、何かの量が急に増えることを指します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に体や物の表面に丸く出っ張った部分や膨らみを表します。比喩的に増加にも使われます（例：'a population bulge'）。鋭い形や角ばったものには使いません。
