橋架け橋 (比喩的)

Definition

橋は川や道路などの上にかけられ、人や車が渡るための構造物です。また、物事や人同士をつなぐ意味でも使われます。

最も一般的なのは実際の橋ですが、『bridge the gap（ギャップを埋める）』や『橋渡しする』など比喩的な使い方も頻繁です。動詞で使う場合は「つなぐ」「隔たりを埋める」となります。

We walked across the bridge to the other side of the river.

私たちは川の向こう岸へ**橋**を渡って行きました。

The old bridge is made of stone.
