O mais comum é ouvir bravo! em teatros, concertos ou ao elogiar alguém com entusiasmo. Para uma mulher, no uso tradicional do italiano existe 'brava', mas em inglês 'bravo' costuma ser usado para qualquer pessoa. Como adjectivo com o sentido de valente ou feroz, é pouco frequente no inglês atual.
