おばけバケモノ

Definition

大人が子どもを怖がらせたり言うことを聞かせるために使う、想像上の怪物。また、正体のはっきりしない恐れる対象を指すこともある。

子どもに『言うことを聞かないとおばけが来るよ』などと使われることが多いです。大人同士ではあまり使いませんが、漠然とした脅威を表すときにも使われます。

The parents told their son the bogeyman would come if he didn't go to bed.

両親は息子に、寝ないと**おばけ**が来るよと言った。
