Amarrar ou prender algo com firmeza; também pode significar unir coisas ou obrigar alguém legal ou moralmente.

"Bind" pode ser físico (amarrar com corda), abstrato (obrigação legal ou promessa) ou técnico (informática). Usa-se muito "bind to" (conectar) e "be bound by" (estar obrigado). Não é informal.
