Definition

バルコニーとは、建物の外壁から張り出して作られた柵付きの小さなスペースで、主に上階にあり、外の空気を楽しむために使われます。住宅やアパート、劇場などに見られます。

「on the balcony」はバルコニーの上にいることを指し、「balcony door」はバルコニーに出るための扉です。劇場では「the balcony」が上部座席を意味します。「テラス」や「パティオ」とは異なり、通常は小さく上階にあります。
