Definition

雪崩は、大量の雪や氷、岩が一気に山から崩れ落ちる現象です。また、メールや問題など大量の物事が一度に押し寄せる様子にも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「雪崩」は主に自然災害を指す正式な言葉ですが、「an avalanche of emails（大量のメール）」のように比喩的にも使えます。「landslide（地滑り）」と混同しないよう注意してください。
