何かや誰かに意識や気持ちを集中させること。また、何かに気づいたり注意深くすることも含む。

「pay attention」は「注意を払う」という意味でよく使われます。日常会話でもフォーマルな場でも使います。「Attention!」は軍隊で号令として使われます。
