'নৃশংসতা' সাধারণত যুদ্ধ বা বড় ধরনের সহিংস ঘটনার ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হয়। দৈনন্দিন খারাপ আচরণের জন্য এই শব্দটি ব্যবহার হয় না। যেমন, 'যুদ্ধের নৃশংসতা,' 'নৃশংসতা সংঘটিত করা'।
