Definition

船やボートの後ろ側や後方を指します。何かが後方に移動するときなどにも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に船舶や航海に関する専門用語です。「move」「go」「fall」などと一緒によく使います。「dead astern」は「真後ろ」という意味です。日常会話ではほとんど使いません。
