表示在一旁、在邊上，或不屬於主要部分。它也可以指脫離主要話題、單獨說的一句簡短評論。

常見搭配有 'step aside'、'put something aside' 和 'set aside'。作名詞時，'an aside' 指順便說的一句、不是重點的話。不要和 'beside' 混淆，後者通常表示「在……旁邊」。

She moved aside to let me pass.
