लगभग हमेशा बहुवचन ('ancestors') के रूप में उपयोग होता है। यह आपके सीधे पूर्वजों को दर्शाता है, केवल पुराने लोगों को नहीं। कभी-कभी यह किसी बड़े समूह (जैसे राष्ट्र) के लिए भी इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है। 'descendants' (वंशज) से भ्रमित न हों।
