Amateur 指因為興趣而不是為了職業收入去做某項活動的人。它也可以用來形容某人不夠專業、水平不高。

Usage Notes (Chinese (Traditional))

在愛好、體育等語境裡，amateur 常常是中性甚至正面的，如 'an amateur photographer'、'amateur theater'。但如果用來評價作品品質或做事方式，往往帶貶義，如 'That was amateur work.' 不要和 'beginner' 混淆：amateur 可能經驗不少，只是並非職業人士。
