كلمة 'alleyway' أكثر رسمية من 'alley' وغالبًا تدل على ممر ضيق للمشاة وليس للسيارات. شائعة مع كلمات مثل 'dark', 'narrow', 'back' (مثل 'dark alleyway'). لا تخلطها مع 'driveway' (مدخل خاص للسيارات إلى منزل).
