「ages」はとても長い時間や歴史の時代を指します。普段の会話では、何かがとても長く感じる時によく使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「I waited for ages」のように、とても長く待った時によく使われます。歴史用語では「the Stone Ages」（石器時代）のように使われます。「cheese ages well」（熟成する）とは区別しましょう。
