承認某事為真，尤其是令人不舒服或之前否認的事情。也可以表示允許某人進入某個場所或機構（如「醫院全天候接診」）。

通常暗示不情願——承認的是你不願說出的事：'I admit I was wrong.' 常見句型：'admit to (doing) something'、'admit that...'、'must admit'（緩和語氣：'I must admit, the food was great'）。表示進入的 'admit' 更正式：'admitted to the university'。不要將 'admit'（承認）與 'allow'（允許）混淆。
