Definición

親しくはないが顔見知りの人のこと。また、何かについて多少の知識や経験があることも表す。

主に人を指します。「just an acquaintance」と言うと親しくない印象です。「colleague」（同僚）や「friend」（友人）とは異なります。「私の知り合い」など所有で表現されることが多いです。

She is just an acquaintance, not a close friend.

彼女は単なる**知り合い**で、親しい友人ではありません。

I met an old acquaintance at the supermarket yesterday.
