Definition

規則や決定に従うこと、または好きでなくても受け入れて耐えること。

フォーマルでやや古風な言い方。'abide by the rules' のように規則を守る場面や、否定文で『我慢できない』という意味で使われる。日常会話ではあまり使われない。

You must abide by the school rules.

あなたは学校の規則に**従わなければなりません**。

All players must abide by the referee’s decisions.

すべての選手は審判の決定に**従わなければなりません**。

I will abide by your choice.

私はあなたの選択に**従います**。

She just can't abide rude people.

彼女は失礼な人を**我慢できない**。
