Definition

何かを深刻に破壊する、または苦しませること。身体的・精神的な苦痛を表す場合もある。時には浜辺に打ち上げられた海藻の意味にも使われる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

日常会話ではほとんど使われず、文語的・文学的表現で多い。『wrack and ruin』（完全な荒廃）や『wracked with pain』（強い苦痛にさいなまれる）などの表現で使う。'rack'と混同しやすいので注意。
