Definition

不満や苦痛を感じて、甲高い声や泣き言を長々と発すること。子どもや動物、大人や機械にも使われる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

子どもが「宿題いやだ」と言うような場面、ペットが飼い主を求めて鳴く時、機械が異音を出す時にも使う。激しく泣くより軽い、やや控えめな不満表現。
