Definition

透かしは、紙やデジタル画像に入っている薄い模様やデザインで、所有権を示したり複製を防ぐために使われます。

公文書、紙幣、デジタル写真によく使われます。'add a watermark', 'remove a watermark' などの表現は所有や著作権保護の意味で使います。紙では光にかざして見え、デジタルでは画像の上に表示されます。
