建物の入口と内部の間にある小さなホールや通路のこと。家やアパート、公共施設などで見られる。

「玄関ホール」や「前室」はややフォーマルで、建築分野で使われることが多い。日常会話では「玄関」を使うことが多いが、公共施設では正式名称を用いることもある。
