凍っていたものが暖かくなって溶けること。また、使用が制限されていたもの（例えばお金など）が再び使えるようになることも指します。

食べ物や資産の凍結解除などに使います。日常会話では食材には「解凍する」、抽象的な意味では「凍結解除する」が一般的です。
