বিজ্ঞান, আইন, পরিসংখ্যান ইত্যাদির মতো আনুষ্ঠানিক প্রসঙ্গে ব্যবহৃত হয়। স্বাভাবিক কথাবার্তায় সাধারণত 'না জানা' বা 'সিদ্ধান্তহীন' বলা হয়।
