무기나 방어 수단이 없이 아무것도 들고 있지 않은 상태.

주로 경찰, 보안, 뉴스 등 공식적 맥락에서 사용됨. 'unarmed civilian', 'unarmed man/woman' 등에 많이 쓰임. 'armed'의 반의어. '도움이 없는' 의미로는 쓰이지 않음.
