Como substantivo, é muito comum em contextos ao ar livre: 'hiking trail', 'bike trail'. Como verbo, 'trail behind' significa seguir atrás a alguma distância, e 'trail' também pode significar estar a perder num jogo ou numa eleição. 'Track' é mais amplo; 'trail' costuma sugerir um caminho mais estreito ou uma linha deixada para trás.
