大きくて重い、本格的な内容の書物や専門書、あるいは厳かなシリーズの巻。

日常会話ではあまり使わず、形式ばった表現やユーモラスなニュアンスで分厚い学術書や難解な本を指します。短い本や雑誌には使いません。
