Definition

音を立てずに静かに歩くために、つま先だけで歩くこと。時には慎重に対応するという意味もある。

誰かを起こさないように、または気づかれないように慎重に動く場合によく使う。'tiptoeing around the issue' は問題を直接触れずに慎重に扱う意味。
