数学で、論理と既知の事実をもとに正しいと証明される命題のこと。

主に数学や論理で使われ、必ず証明があるもの。'hypothesis'（仮説）や 'axiom'（公理）とは異なる。よく使う組み合わせは「定理を証明する」「数学の定理」「有名な定理」など。
