「the boot」は主にイギリス英語で車の後ろの荷物を入れるスペースを指します。また、俗語で解雇される意味にもなります。

車の荷物入れの意味はイギリス英語のみ。アメリカでは“trunk”と言います。「クビにする」の意味では「get/give the boot」の形でカジュアルに使われます。
