テントを設置したり、テントで寝泊まりしたりすることを表します。また、何かを中央から持ち上げてテント状に形作る意味もあります。

日常会話では「camping（キャンプ）」の方が一般的ですが、「テントを張る」など具体的な状況で使われます。布や毛布がテント型になる場合にも使います。
