Definition

도로와 공항 활주로에 쓰이는 딱딱하고 검은 포장재이며, 공항의 활주로나 주기장을 가리키기도 한다.

영국식 영어에서 더 자주 사용하며, 미국에선 'asphalt'나 'runway'라고 하는 경우가 많음. 'On the tarmac'은 활주로나 주기장 등 항공기 근처 야외를 의미함.
