Definition

एक कठोर, काला पदार्थ जो सड़कों और हवाईअड्डा रनवे के लिए उपयोग होता है। यह हवाई जहाज के खड़े होने की सतह के लिए भी कहा जाता है।

'Tarmac' शब्द सामान्यतः हवाई अड्डे के क्षेत्र के लिए (जहाँ हवाई जहाज खड़े होते हैं) खासकर ब्रिटिश अंग्रेज़ी में प्रयोग होता है। अमेरिकी अंग्रेज़ी में अधिकतर 'asphalt' (डामर) या 'runway' (रनवे) कहते हैं।
